"Superstar" is the tenth track on Big Time Rush's second studio album, Elevate. In the show, it was featured in the episode "Big Time Strike", which aired on October 10, 2011.
Composition[]
"Superstar" was written early in 2011, while production was underway for the second season of Big Time Rush. An online article by the magazine TigerBeat, published on June 13, 2011, confirmed that the band had teamed up with professional "hit maker" Jay Sean to write a song, which was described as "upbeat" and "definitely one that you will be able to dance to!"[1] Sean shared an exclusive photo of himself in the studio with Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega, saying, "I always love writing for other artists and I had a lot of fun with Big Time Rush in the studio. Good vibes!"
The band worked with writer Jared Cotter alongside vocal producer Chris Rojas in the studio in February 2011.[2][3]
In the Show[]
In Big Time Strike, the boys are recording the song and have been tired of Gustavo shocking them. As a result, they begin to go on strike. Everything goes well by working on their own until they realize that it's a difficult path to walk. In the end, Griffin requests BTR to make a music video for the song and it becomes successful.
The music video portion for "Superstar" in "Big Time Strike" was the final scene filmed for the show's second season. The video was filmed on a rooftop in Los Angeles. Kendall Schmidt said that BTR came up with the dance move associated with the "wild out" line.[4]
