"Stuck" is a song by Big Time Rush. It was first heard being played acoustically by the boys in "Big Time Terror", and they later gave a full performance at the Palm Woods dance in "Big Time Dance". The full song was officially released as a bonus track for the band's first studio release, BTR, first on the iTunes standard release, and later on the international version. It was also included on the exclusive bonus disc featured in the Ultimate Fan Edition box set.

Background and composition[]

“Stuck” was written by David Hodges, Jess Cates, and Lindy Robbins, and produced by Emanuel "Eman" Kiriakou.[1] It was written in 2008 alongside the song "Crush" for label Jive Records, who pitched them for American pop singer David Archuleta to record.[2] After "Crush" was chosen as Archuleta's debut single, "Stuck" was later offered to Big Time Rush. They worked with Kiriakou in October 2009, while recording and preparing songs for the first season of Big Time Rush.[3][4]

On March 11, 2010, BTR debuted a live performance of "Stuck" during their second ever concert, at Nickelodeon's L.A. Upfront presentation in Los Angeles.[5][6] The song was featured in the first season Big Time Rush episodes "Big Time Terror", "Big Time Dance", and "Big Time Fever". BTR teased an iTunes release alongside its respective episode, similar to those of promotional singles like "Any Kind of Guy" and "Halfway There".[7] However, the song was instead released in October 2010 as a bonus track on BTR.

Music video[]

A music video was filmed and directed by Marcus Wagner, who also directed the videos for "Famous" and "Music Sounds Better with U". While the video never aired on Nickelodeon, it was posted online by Wagner.[8] The video shows the four band members writing and playing together as they sing.

The version of the song heard in the music video has minor differences from the official release: In addition to the guitars being mixed slightly differently, Logan Henderson's line "It's the way that I feel when you say what you say to me" instead is "It's the way that I feel when you're doing what you do to me".

In live performances, the song was traditionally performed acoustically, with Kendall Schmidt playing guitar. The original version of the song was performed live for the first time on the Big Time Rush Live tour.

Lyrics[]

There were so many things
That I never ever got to say
'Cause I'm always tongue-tied
With my words getting in the way
If you could read my mind
Then all your doubts would be left behind
And every little thing would be falling into place

I would scream to the world
They would see you're my girl
But I just keep getting

Stuck, stuck
But I'm never giving
Up, up
In the middle of a
Perfect day
I'm trippin' over
Words to say
'Cause I don't wanna keep you guessing
But I always end up getting
Stuck, stuck
But I'm never giving
Up, up

It's the way that I feel
When you say what you say to me
Keeps you running through my mind
Twenty-four/seven days a week
And if you've got the time
Just stick around and you'll realize
That it's worth every minute that it takes
Just wait and see

I would scream to the world
They would see you're my girl
But I just keep getting

Stuck, stuck
But I'm never giving
Up, up
In the middle of a
Perfect day
I'm trippin' over
Words to say
'Cause I don't wanna keep you guessing
But I always end up getting
Stuck, stuck
But I'm never giving
Up, up

I'm over the chances wasted
Tell me it's not too late, it's
Only the nervous nights
That keep me bottled up inside

Stuck, stuck
But I'm never giving
Up, up
In the middle of a
Perfect day
I'm trippin' over
Words to say
'Cause I don't wanna keep you guessing
But I always end up getting
Stuck, stuck
But I'm never giving
Up, up

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh baby
'Cause I don't wanna keep you guessing
But I always end up getting
Stuck, stuck
But I'm never giving
Up, up

There were so many things
That I never ever got to say
'Cause I'm always tongue-tied
